Working On My Tree ......

I am still working on my Exchange Stitching, But I am much closer to Completion.

Needing a Stitching Break - I decided

I wanted to add a few more ornaments to my tree.....

I added more gold balls & then decided I wanted to do something more.....

So I used an old Bible that was accidentally damaged some time ago

(I just didn't have the heart to throw it away)

And did this:

And then I used some of this....

to do this...

And let me tell you

WHAT A MESS.

But I kept at it because I was determined to make something lovely for my tree.

So I ended up with a bowl full of these:

Now all I need is some gift tags, glitter & Ribbon.....

The Raggy Process Has Started

I tea dyed the fabric I stitched my little snowmen on for on old raggedy feel.

Buttons will go where I added the ribbons.

The final step will be to sew the "Raggy" edge and stuff the little pillows.

Then they will be ready to hang on the tree.

By the way, The stitchers have been notified for the Christmas Exchange -

Don't worry if you didn't hear from me.

I am getting in the Christmas mood.

I know it is only October but I just can't help it.

Look what has started at my house:

I have been asked to do some private Christmas Ornament Exchanges recently.

And now.....

So, I thought I would ask if there is anyone else who would like to exchange a Christmas ornament/small with me this year? I will pick just a few more names & then if I have time I will most likely send out some RAK's when the holidays draw near.

it is truly a beautiful fabric !!!!!

iphone case

I won a Napkitten iphone case pattern from a blog called innocentia.

This has to be the best sewing tutorial pdf I have ever received - It is very detailed & easy to understand.

I would definitely recommend a purchase from Nap kitten after trying this.

Here is a photo of my first attempt:

I haven't decided if I want to use snaps or velcro for the closure so I have not added them yet.

Maybe on the next one I will stitch a small motif in the center panel -

We will have to see

I know this is technically a stitching blog - But I find that quilting and stitching go so very well together!!!

I've seen so many bloggers that stitch squares to make so many beautiful Quilts.

I must say that my interest has been peaked. I am developing a great desire to own just one fabulous Quilt. I know that I can learn the skills to do this & I am eagerly wanting to try.

I have been making Hexagon Flowers - And I certainly have enjoyed this endeavor:

But I also want to learn other styles of quilting

I've been working on a baby shower gift so I have put all of my other stitching aside -

I found the pattern for this adorable little turtle on the blog called

I filled this little jar with treats

And the Baby Bottles with M&M's:

The tissue holders came from a free tutorial from

Sew Much 2 Love

I used charts in the magazine below to make the jar topper:

And to stitch the babies name on a burp cloth:

(I changed the pattern a little to accommodate the colors and style I needed.)

This magazine contains many mini charts and ideas for baby gifts -

And a few larger charts as well -

I think it was a fabulous find !!!

The frog in my pond had babies -

Back from break

I hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July !!!

I made a trip or two to the beach while on break:

In between the beach & trips to the Destin Outlet Mall

I was able to finish all of the painting on the walls in my house (hunter green /white ) & painted my kitchen cabinets white -everything looks so nice !!!

And,

My wonderful husband bought me a new stitching chair, although I must say I did not accomplish any stitching.

It is so big & comfortable - Just perfect.

So-

I finished my first weekend back to work

And-

I am attempting to do some blog reading . I am looking forward to catching up with you all!

Just because a certain blogger thinks she can stitch snowmen faster than I can I decided to post this even though I didn't buy a carrot nose yet -

And since I am going to the beach tomorrow I will not have a nose tomorrow either -

And since I do not have a nose

My poor snowman can't blow it - But that is ok because he is not sick- like a certain blogger that i know ...

I was fortunate enough to discover a beautiful blog called Tat's Heaven where I entered a giveaway by counting buttons in a Teddy Bear Jar -This is what I won:

It is a bag decorated with buttons and Sally's very own hand tatted trim - Didn't she do a lovely job !! She included some floss, buttons, and a "friendship Spoon" - which I have never heard of, but it is really quite unique

I am behind with my blogging & I did not have the opportunity to post this sooner -

More hexagons, Tusal, & Problem with framing from previous post

Just a side note-

The previous framed finish that I posted (Poinsettia House) that my children gave me for mothers day was not done correctly (As far as I am concerned). Is it just me, or should a framer know that "Pinning" does not mean putting adhesive all over the back of someones work and laying it on a mat board without stretching the fabric & then sealing it all up and charging top dollar to innocent children who are trying to do a lovely thing for their mother?

Because that is what they did - They called it stitchy pin -

Does anyone else find this misleading?

When I took my piece back to the framer & told them the fabric was puckering - They told me that it had fallen off the pins -

And told me they had reinforced it-

Days Later when the fabric puckered again &

When I cut the backing paper off of the piece there was not one pin-

The piece had not been stretched &

Apparently stitchy pin - means adhesive -

So be careful when using a framer -

And be sure they know how to handle linen

Because it is very difficult to remove ink & adhesive from linen especially when the pattern was stitched in hand dyed threads

Has any one else come across this????

I usually lace my work when I frame it - I think I have heard that pins aren't even the best

Any advice - Info -

I am going to try to make a hexagon flower garden quilt. Here is a photo of my progress making hexagons:

I will use each of the fabrics to make individual flowers -I have not assembled them yet - But I am posting this photo to show you the little box I found at Michael's craft store -

Doesn't it fit my hexagons perfectly !!!!!

Scroll Bar Problems ;(

I need some advice - I purchased a scroll bar today. (I have never used one) I am finding that when I use it the fabric is very loose in the middle - I like my fabric to be taut when I stitch. Am I doing something wrong or have I purchased an inefficient scroll bar-

Any suggestions or links to a wonderful scroll bar or any ideas for stitching with a larger piece of fabric would be highly appreciated !!!! My "The Flood" piece is on hold until I can find something suitable - The fabric is too big for me to hold comfortably while stitching -

I have to tell you - I love this silk floss - It just glides through the fabric so beautifully. I can't believe I have been missing out on this !!!! I will be using more in the future - that is for sure. And I must admit I am loving this pattern as well. It's one of those that you think you won't like when you start it because you are working all of the brown in the Ark - But as you add each part of the design & pick up another color it becomes very enticing. It is a truly unique & creative design - Well worth the time and the effort as far as I am concerned. I can't wait to get to the 2x2 critters !!!!
