Embroidery .....

This is a sneak peak at a little project I am working on.
I received the freebie from Bievenue Chez Elisa
This will be a needlebook of sorts -
I'm thinking a pocket for scissors, felt for needles......
I am hoping to learn some new embroidery stitches so that I can make leaves & flowers on the cover.
I couched bias strip below the stitched pattern matching the colors of the fabric I will be using for finishing:
(In the actual fabric the yellow is a little brighter)
And, I may add some ric rac, buttons, & beads.
After all, this is a work in progress .......

Enjoy your weekend

Verification Difficulty

I don't know about anyone else, But I am having a very difficult time with the word verification for blogger.
I am wearing glasses to compensate for my own visual deficit & apparently the verification system opposes my glasses so if i do not comment it is because I am starting to get headaches when I blog -
I am having a terrible time with this ----
Apparently I am a Robot !!!!!!!!

I am following blogs with Google Reader !!!
Enjoy your week

Japanese Silk Thimbles

I found a wonderful website when looking through Pinterest.
It is called
This blog displays the loveliest Silk thimbles I have ever seen.
So I ordered a starter kit from her Etsy shop
It had wonderful instructions & I am thrilled with my first attempt:

Now - you must go and see her thimbles because they definitely put mine to shame -
Hers are just gorgeous & much more intricate than my starter thimble.
And she uses such vibrant colors.......

It's amazing what all can be done with a little thread and some  ingenuity
Have a Great Weekend

Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif

I have completed my Huswif !!!
I am so excited because this is the first one I have ever made.
I need more practice with finishing the bias strip- especially in the corners, but
I think that is to be expected being that this is my first time to try it.

The design has several pockets:
With plenty of room to hold scissors, threads, fabric.....
And the pattern has some wonderful detail:

Overall a very good stitch
with very detailed finishing instructions.

Ellen Chester did a marvelous job!

Design: Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif
Designer: With My Needle
Fiber: Carrie's Creations "Bordeaux"

I bought a fish !!

Ok - Like I needed another pet - lol
My sons & I were watching IP Man.
(Yes another martial arts film - Go figure I have a husband and 3 boys to deal with)
So I decided to take a run to Wal-Mart.
I remembered I needed some Goldfish food for my pond fish & then I saw it
A Crowntail Beta -
& he was so pretty.
He was crammed in a little container stacked on the shelf with a multitude of other fish.
And he was pushed all the way to the back of the shelf -
with two containers of fish on top of him.
It could be weeks before anyone noticed him
So I decided he needed me to save him.
After all, he is a "Japanese fighting fish" so the boys couldn't possibly argue with this decision......

I put him in a 11 inch Aquatic Garden Vase
Bought him some pretty rocks
Placed a Peace Lily in the top of the container (making sure to leave enough space for air)
There you have it -
A beautiful home !!

I know it's a bit girly for a fighting fish,
but I don't think he will complain considering his previous circumstances

Do you want to see my little tenant.
Here he is:

Beautiful colors don't you think.

And wouldn't you know it
There's an IP Man 2 movie

Too bad you can only put one fighting fish in a container !!!
I guess I will have to watch this one!

I hope you are enjoying your week....

Mrs. Waddelow's Huswif ...

I have finished the stitching for my Huswif -

Barbara from "To Stitch Or Not To Stitch" is also making this huswif.
Follow her progress HERE.
She always does a such a beautiful job with her projects - Her blog is well worth a visit !!!

And I found a frame on sale to fit something I had already stitched...
 For only $5.00 - I think it was a fabulous find !!!
(edited per blogger request: The frame came from Kirkland's)

I guess I will have to stitch this again to make a pincushion.
